When Senator Chris Van Hollen of Maryland boarded a plane to El Salvador to fight for the release of a recently deported illegal alien with alleged MS-13 gang affiliations, he didn’t just cross the border—he crossed the line.
This wasn’t a humanitarian mission. This was a direct undermining of U.S. immigration enforcement and the authority of the sitting President of the United States. It was a blatant, reckless abuse of senatorial power. And in the eyes of many patriotic Americans, it walks the razor-thin line of treason.
The Crime: Flying Overseas to Free an MS-13 Affiliate
Senator Van Hollen’s mission? To persuade the Salvadoran government to release Kilmar Abrego Garcia—an illegal alien deported under the Trump administration—who is now being held in one of El Salvador’s most notorious prisons.
This wasn’t a case of a model citizen wrongfully detained. This criminal was deported from the United States, a process that does not happen lightly. The Trump administration has gone on record calling his deportation an “error,” but even now, Salvadoran authorities—no strangers to violent gang activity—refuse to release him. Why? Because he’s being held in a maximum-security facility housing MS-13 gang members, and according to El Salvador’s Vice President, he’s being treated like all others accused of such affiliations.
So why would a sitting U.S. Senator fight tooth and nail to bring him back? Why did Van Hollen deem this case worthy of an international intervention?
Meanwhile, back in his home state of Maryland, a young woman named Rachel Morin was raped and murdered on a walking trail by an illegal alien with confirmed MS-13 gang ties. Senator Van Hollen didn’t fly anywhere for her. He didn’t speak to her family. In fact, he actively avoided them. Not one word. Not one condolence. Not even a tweet.
What Message Does This Send to Law-Abiding Americans?
Let’s be crystal clear: Senator Van Hollen made a personal trip—on our dime—to another country, to pressure their government into releasing a man they believe may be connected to a violent international gang. He was actively attempting to circumvent foreign policy, he was actively overstepping Legislative authority, and he was purposefully committing treason against the United States for what? What possible benefit? Does Van Hollen have his eye on running for POTUS? Maryland Governor? Last I checked, treason was an immediately disqualifying crime. But more on THAT later.
While he was negotiating with a foreign government for the release of a deported foreign national, the grieving Morin family was still pleading for justice in Maryland. Van Hollen didn’t go to their home. He didn’t call. He didn’t listen.
Rachel was one of his constituents. Kilmar was not. Rachel was a victim. Kilmar is an accused criminal. Yet in true Maryland Democratic style, Van Hollen prioritized the criminal over the victim. That’s the legacy Van Hollen wants to impress on this state. Georgetown Law School should be ashamed, and Van Hollen should be sharing a cell with Garcia.
If that doesn’t scream betrayal, what does?
Is This Not Treason?
Let’s revisit the definition of treason under the U.S. Constitution:
“Treason against the United States shall consist only in levying war against them, or in adhering to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort.” – Article III, Section 3
Now ask yourself: Is traveling abroad to interfere with the lawful detention of a potentially dangerous gang member—someone deported by U.S. immigration authorities—not giving aid and comfort to the enemies of American law and order? EVEN IF he was mistakenly deported back home accidentally (I don’t believe that).
Van Hollen didn’t just write a letter. He didn’t make a phone call. He flew into the heart of Central America, stood before foreign leadership, and lobbied on behalf of a terrorist and a human trafficker accused of MS-13 ties.
That is not oversight. That is not diplomacy. That is an outrage. That is interference. And even to halfwits, that is treason.
Let’s Not Forget What MS-13 Is
MS-13 is not just a gang. It is one of the most brutal criminal organizations on Earth—beheading victims, trafficking women and children, and murdering indiscriminately. They are terrorists, and are considered such.
If a sitting Senator is advocating for someone who’s been linked to this organization—while completely ignoring the families whose lives have been shattered by its violence—he has no business in American government. He also has no business walking among the good people of Maryland. He certainly has no business in our nation’s Capital or The Capitol. In fact, I personally think he forfeited his right to freedom when he started on this treasonous detour. And the more I think about it, he has earned the prestigious honor of trying to convince a jury that he doesn’t deserve capital punishment.
What Should Happen Next?
This is not a “wait and see” situation. Senator Chris Van Hollen must be held accountable. Not censured. Not given a slap on the wrist. Not brushed off by a biased media.
He must be investigated, and if found in violation of the law, he must be arrested immediately.
Let the world know that America will no longer tolerate elected officials who sympathize with violent criminals over their own citizens.
No matter how you try to spin it, this is treason. You do not get to forcefully negotiate with foreign governments to subvert immigration law. And you do not get to ignore the bloodshed in your own backyard while trying to look like a savior abroad. How can Van Hollen sleep at night? He has a wife and a daughter. How can he look them in the eyes knowing that THEY know he ignored Morin, but went the southern end of the continent to try to import a person connected to people who profit off human trafficking and use rape as an intimidation tactic? What kind of a leader does that?!?! Husband? Father? Why, Chris? For votes? To make a name for yourself?
Call to Action
I call on the Department of Justice and Congressional leadership to launch an immediate investigation into Senator Chris Van Hollen’s actions.
I demand that the people of Maryland remember what he did—and more importantly, what he failed to do.
He did not speak for Rachel Morin. He spoke for her killer’s gang.
He did not seek justice for the American people. He sought leniency for those who flout our laws.
So if the DOJ fails to act, then let it be to a sea of voters who have had enough. Let it be the beginning of the end of his political career.
Until then, I hope you will join me in holding political leaders responsible and accountable for their traitorous acts.
No More Elections. No More Power. No More Excuses.
Rachel Morin will never get to walk another trail. She will never get to vote. But we do. And we must.
For Rachel. For justice. For America.
