UPDATED Mass Shooting: Minnesota State House Speaker Melissa Hortman & Husband, Mark, Brutally Assassinated

At least one police impersonator and another accomplice are believed to have targeted MN House Speaker Melissa Hortman and her husband. Both Hortmans have been murdered.
Senator John Hoffman and Hoffman’s wife, also brutally shot multiple times but are in the hospital. Governor Tim Walz stated he’s “cautiously optimistic” that they will survive.

3:30PM 6/14/2025 update: a person of interest is being named as 57-year-old Vance Boelter. From Dan Bongino, Boelter may have been a political appointee of Tim Walz (MN Governor). Police are still in pairs, but there is now a second person believed to be involved so the earlier message not to answer the door for lone officers is I guess still in limbo. A manifesto was found when they found Boelter’s car: it had “NO KINGS” flyers and a manifesto.

🚨 What’s happened
- Saturday, June 14, 2025: In the early hours, State Senator John Hoffman and his wife were shot at their Champlin home. They were wounded but expected to survive.
- Officers then checked on State Rep. Melissa Hortman’s home in nearby Brooklyn Park, responding out of caution. There, an armed man impersonating a police officer opened fire. After an exchange of shots with law enforcement, the suspect escaped. Inside, they found Melissa Hortman and her husband; both were tragically killed.
- Melissa Hortman, former Speaker of the Minnesota House and longtime public servant, was 55.

- Identified as 57‑year‑old Vance Luther Boelter, a former member of Governor Walz’s Workforce Development Board and private security firm director.
- He was disguised as a police officer—complete with uniform, badge, and latex mask. A hit list of around 70 political and abortion‑rights figures, including Governor Walz and Rep. Ilhan Omar, was found in his vehicle.
- Authorities say the attack was politically motivated, specifically targeting Democratic lawmakers and those supporting abortion rights
